Bad Credit Loans Australia

Suddenly the lucky country is not so lucky and after years of record economic growth Australia is starting to remember what an economic recession is again. Australians looking for loans even though they may have bad credit. But what is bad credit in Australia can be difficult to work out. Unlike say America Australians looking for personal or home loans, or even just for a second car have a fairly tough time of it if they have a poor credit record.

In fact your credit record doesn't even have to be bad - if you have recently emmigrated to Australia then you also have a problem because credit records aren't transportable between countries. You may have had decades of perfect payment history in your home country - but in Australia you start from scratch - and no credit can even more annoying than having bad credit.

So you are looking for a bad credit personal loan? Australia is a credit card loving country - it might be easiest just to get a low limit credit card. These seem easier to come by than a personal loan for someone with bad credit - and after a few months of making the minimum payments you are bound to be able to increase the credit limit.

If you are determined to get an acutal loan than your best bet will be to try for a secured loan. Secured loans are loans which are guarateed by something you own - normally your home or a car, or for outdoor loving Australians - their boat. The important thing here to note is that you default on the loan you will lose your security - an important point particularly for houses.

Australia Bad Credit Loans

Bad credit loans are often loans used to roll a number of smaller debts into one. This can save you money - for example extending a home mortgage can be a much lower interest rate than those typically charged on car loans. Also if you own an asset a lender will lend to you more readily than if you want a personal loan - of course if you don't already have a home, and one which is not mortgaged to the hilt this is of not much use to you.

Another option for Australians whith bad credit - is to find a friend or relative who is prepared to go gurantor for your loan. Parent's often do this for their children by using their family home - but as with all secured loans the parents are risking loss of their family home if the child then defaults on payment. So although a gurantor can be good it can also tear a family apart. Another option is for a spouse or partner to guarantor the other party- though in this case it may be easier for the partner with better credit to apply in the first place.

Its really better to avoid gettting a bad credit record in Australia. It takes seven years for the lapses on it to removed - until that happens its going to be difficult to get any sort of credit - or at least at a reasonable price. Given that most people who have poor credit records are often business owners as well so the abiltiy to bad credit personal loans can have a huge effect of their ability to be business owners again. This is probably a huge difference between the Australia and US business owners: it seems to not be such a big problem to get credit there even if you have defaulted. Australians need to protect their credit records with quite a lot more effort.

Its actually worthwhile paying the few dollars to check what your credit records has for you. You may be shocked - pleasently or otherwise -  if there are errors make sure that they are fixed. Having bad credit is bad - but being told you have bad credit when in fact all you have is a clerical error - or a mix up on names and debts.

So for Australians - bad credit is something to be avoided - try to negotiate with creditors before its too late - ignoring a looming financial crises doesn't work for governments or individuals. Try to manage your debt an renegotiate terms while you still have some wriggle room. Lenders actually prefer to avoid foreclosing a lone if at all possible. Talking to them will get you a long way to protecting your credit history from getting a default recorded on it. Bad credit home loans for Australians are particularly difficult so be careful out there!
